Dental plaque, mucus and secretions increase bacterial presence, consequently patients will be forced to stay longer in the intensive care unit.
In order to prevent the onset of these diseases, it is appropriate to develop and implement standardized protocols for oral care, including the use of disinfectants, appropriate aids and a proper hydration of the oral cavity, to adequately protect the health of patients.
